How Compai collects, uses, and protects your information — plainly stated.

Compai (“we” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use our website and services (collectively, the “Services”), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

Website Visitor Tracking and Cookies

When you visit or log into our website, we use cookies and similar technologies to collect certain information about your visit, including:

• Usage data such as pages viewed, time spent on pages, and navigation patterns
• Device information including browser type, operating system, and IP address
• General location data derived from your IP address (limited to U.S. locations only)

We use third-party services for website analytics and visitor identification to help us understand how visitors interact with our website and improve our services. These services may collect and process visitor data on our behalf. We only collect information from confirmed U.S.-located IP addresses and do not collect data from EU or Canadian users.

The information collected is used to:

• Analyze and improve our website performance and user experience
• Understand visitor behavior and preferences
• Optimize our marketing and outreach efforts

Information We Collect and How We Use It

When you use our Add-on, we may collect certain information about you and your usage of the Add-on, such as:

• Your email address and name, which we use to identify your account and provide you with the Add-on functionality.
• The content of your emails, which we read through the Gmail API only to provide the features you use in Compai, such as logging conversations with your contacts and drafting replies for you to review.
• If you connect a Google or Microsoft calendar, the start and end time, title, location, video-call link, attendee email addresses and responses, and a link back to the event, for events from the past 90 days and the next 14 days. We match attendee addresses to contacts already in your Compai account, record past meetings on that contact's history, and show upcoming meetings on your home screen. We do not read event descriptions or attachments, we never create, change or delete calendar events, and calendar data is never used for advertising. A meeting's title may be included when our AI drafts a message or summarizes a relationship for you, as described under Information Sharing.

We use the information we collect from you to:

• Provide you with the Add-on functionality and improve our services.
• Respond to your inquiries and requests.
• Analyze and improve the Add-on and our services.

SMS Communications and Consent Process

When our customers purchase digital gift cards to be delivered via SMS, we follow a two-step consent process to ensure recipients have explicitly agreed to receive messages:

• Initial Contact: When a gift card is purchased, we send an initial message to the recipient that identifies the sender and requests consent (e.g., “Hey [Recipient Name], [Sender Name] would like to send you a digital gift card. Please respond GIFTCARD if you’d like to receive the gift card via text message.”).
• Consent Confirmation: We only deliver the actual gift card after receiving an affirmative response from the recipient.
• Opt-Out Information: All messages include clear instructions on how recipients can opt out of future messages.
• Record Keeping: We maintain records of all consent interactions to ensure compliance with telecommunications regulations.

Information Sharing

To provide features you use, such as drafting messages in your voice, summarizing where things stand with a contact and picking out dates and names, we send the relevant parts of your emails, contact history and meetings to the AI providers named in the Limited Use Disclosure below. Under their API terms, they do not use it to train their models. Data received through Google Workspace APIs is never used to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine-learning models.

If you connect Compai to your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, that assistant can read your Compai data, including logged and upcoming meetings, when you ask it to. You choose to make that connection and can remove it at any time.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties for their promotional purposes. The types of data shared with AI models and the purpose of such sharing are clearly outlined in this privacy policy.

Data Retention

We retain the information collected until a user requests that we delete it. This includes SMS consent records, which we maintain for compliance purposes.

Turning off calendar logging in Settings stops all calendar reads. Meetings already recorded stay on the contact's history until you delete your account.

Your Choices:

• You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but this may limit the functionality of the Add-on.
• By using the Add-on, you explicitly consent to the sharing of data, including dates and names, with third-party tools, as described in this privacy policy.
• Recipients of gift cards can decline to receive messages by not responding to our initial consent request or by replying STOP at any time.
• You can also request that we delete your data and remove the Add-on if you do not want to provide that information.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. For California residents, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide the following rights:

• Right to Know: You have the right to request information about the personal data we have collected about you, including the categories of data, sources, purposes, and third parties we share it with.
• Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
• Right to Opt-Out: You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. To opt out of website tracking, please email us at info@compai.ai with “Opt-Out Request” in the subject line.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising any of your privacy rights.

Security

We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. All web traffic is encrypted using SSL, and we require OAuth to ensure only authorized users get access to the Add-on. However, the Internet is not 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information.

Limited Use Disclosure

Compai’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The use of raw or derived user data received from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We do not use Google user data to develop, train or improve generalized AI or machine-learning models, and we do not transfer it to anyone who does. When we use AI to draft messages, we send only what that draft needs to the following providers, under API terms that prohibit training on it: OpenAI (API platform), Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini) and Perplexity (API).

Changes to this Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes to our information practices. If we make any material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice in the Add-on.
